despite waking is an online dream journal wherein I share my dreams and also some thoughts on dream interpretation, how to remember dreams, lucid dreaming, nightmares, and different cultural practices involving dreams. Practically anything dream-related (or even sleep-related) may find its way into the conversation. Some dreams are presented in the form of stories, poetry, or visual art- or, at least, the attempt is made to do so.
In an effort to be easily accessible, site updates are available on Twitter and Tumblr as well as here on LJ.
Basically, I am trying to keep up a journal of my dreams. I tend to "interpret" them... sometimes this is more whimsy than anything, but I am a big fan of chaos theory, so I indulge symbolic meanings as much as personal association.
I'm a happily married parent of two children and a rescue dog who is a total fetch addict. I grew up in the big sky country of the American southwest with a brief stint in the bayous of the deep south. I am interested in the world in most all its aspects, from the actual physical universe to culture and myth and inner self. I read voraciously and especially prize Fyodor Dostoevsky, Franz Kafka, William Faulkner, Patrick O'Brian, and C.J. Cherryh. I follow Girl Genius and Hellboy. I am mediocre at computer programming and gardening. I find science enthralling, but I never underestimate magic.
Oh, yes, my friends, I am a geek- a very strange and complicated geek, to be sure, but, oh well, there it is. During the day I am also a specialized care provider and services coordinator, and, every so often, a bloody fool.
